  • Traps for Volatile Organic Sampling Trains (VOSTs)

    These are specified by the US EPA Method 0031 in SW-846 for sampling VOCs in gaseous effluent from stationary emission sources such as hazardous waste incinerators. SKC VOST traps meet method specifications, are tested for background and pressure drop, and feature Swagelok fittings and PTFE ferrules.

    Note: Traps are not supplied thermally conditioned. They must be conditioned prior to use, and used and analysed within 14 days of conditioning.

Polyurethane Foam (PUF) Tubes

Polyurethane Foam (PUF) tubes are available in low volume or high volume versions:

  • The low volume PUF tubes (22 x 100 mm) are for measurements up to 24 hours at flow rates between 1 to 5 L/min.
  • The high volume PUF tubes (65 x 125 mm) are designed for use with high volume samplers for ambient air sampling of organochlorine pesticides, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).

    The Low Volume PUF Tubes:

    • Meet the specifications of EPA TO-10A, EPA-IP-8, ASTM D4861.

  • High Volume Polyurethane Foam (PUF) Tubes

    The PUF-only sorbent tubes meet ASTM D6209 and EPA IP-7, TO-4A and TO-13A, and are packed with precleaned PUF for low background. The PUF/XAD-2 combination tube meets EPA Method 600/8-80-038 specifications, and contains cleaned XAD-2 sorbent between two PUFs, which improves volatile component extraction during analysis.

  • Constant Pressure Controller (CPC)

    A CPC is a device which allows a sampling pump to operate at low flow rates and with the optional adjustable low flow tube holders.

    Constant Pressure Controller (CPC)

    The CPC is placed inline between the adjustable low flow tube holder and the pump inlet, and regulates the specific amount of pressure to be maintained across the needle valve(s) on the supply (pressure) end of the sampling train. During sampling a valve inside the CPC opens and pulls additional air into the train on the pump (vacuum) end of the CPC as needed, to maintain the CPC-specified pressure across the needle valve(s). Note that the All-in-One low flow tube holder (224-27) is available which combines a CPC with a single low flow adjustable tube holder.

  • Adjustable Low Flow Tube Holders

    These products enable a sampling pump to be used with up to 4 sorbent tubes at the same time, either the same tube type running at different flow rates, or with different tubes running at the same or different flow rates.

    Note that when using a single tube with the Pocket Pump Touch the Non-Adjustable Low Flow Tube Holder is used.

  • Protective Tube Covers

    These protect the ends of the tube for storage and transit. The appropriate tube cover must be selected by matching the Tube Cover type in the Sorbent Tube Selection Charts. Note that tube covers Types A to D are for use with SKC Adjustable Low Flow Tube Holders only. Collar clips are attached for convenience.

The special OVS tube holder is designed to accommodate the 13 mm diameter of SKC OVS tubes, provide a convenient clip to attach the tube in the breathing zone, and protect the tube during sampling. Includes 0.9 m (3ft) of tubing.

    ** Low-volume PUF (polyurethane foam) tubes are typically used at a flow rate of 1 to 5 L/min provided by a personal sample pump. Therefore, a special tube holder is used in place of an adjustable low flow holder that only allows flows to 500 ml/min. The low-volume PUF tube holder is also specially designed to accommodate the large 22 mm diameter and long 100 mm length of SKC low-volume PUF tubes. Includes 0.9 m (3ft) of tubing.

Chromosorb Sorbent Tubes

Chromosorb® is a porous polymer sorbent and is used to trap low-boiling hydrocarbons, benzene, labile compounds, and volatile oxygenated compounds. Chromosorb® 106 is a hydrophobic sorbent and the least polar polymer in the Chromosorb family and is functionally similar to Anasorb® 727.
